The pillar procedure is a minimally invasive surgery where three small “pillars” are implanted  into the soft palate on the roof of the mouth. This strengthens the soft palate and can stop snoring and obstructive sleep apnea that results from the relaxation and vibration of the muscles at the back of the throat, meaning you can sleep more soundly.

The surgery is typically done under local anesthetic and you will likely be free to go home after the procedure and can resume normal eating and daily activities that same day.

Snoring and sleep apnea can be indicative of a more serious sleep disorder. It’s best to consult your ENT professional before seriously considering any treatment options as he or she will be able to advise you best based on your unique situation.
