Initial Preparation

Please carefully review the medication lists provided in the links below. Follow the guidelines on when to discontinue any medications that could interfere with allergy testing. If any of the medications that need to be stopped were prescribed by a physician other than your ENT specialist, be sure to contact that provider to confirm whether it is safe for you to pause the medication for the required period before testing.

If you are taking any medication listed under the Beta Blocker category, it is crucial to consult with your prescribing physician to determine if it can be adjusted or changed for both testing and, potentially, long-term treatment. Beta-blockers must be avoided if you are to receive allergy injections, as they interfere with emergency medications used for severe allergic reactions and may lead to serious harm or even death. If switching from Beta Blockers is not possible, your treatment may need to be modified to include medical management, sublingual immunotherapy, or other suitable alternatives.

Please also avoid any injections or vaccinations for at least 48 hours before your allergy test.
